In 2004 I was a delegate from Colorado to the Democratic National Convention in Boston. The designated Free Speech Zone for protestors consisted of a high chain-link enclosure under a viaduct near the convention center. Those who came to speak out called it “the Cage.” After the convention ended I visited the site and picked up chain-link remnants of the demolished “Cage.” Almost four years later I incorporated them into this artwork called “No More Cages.” |
